KTA 2 types of photography and famous photographers

The 5 styles of photography i have chosen to research are sports, band/music , astro, portrait and macro photography.
sports photography
sports photography is a type of photography which covers all types of sports. it is more closely linked to photojournalism as sports photographers usally work for newspapers and dedicated magazines.
bob martin is an example of a famous photographer who is the holder of many awards for his work. he specialises in action, graphic and editorial for advertising. his photos are of the likes of big athletic superstars such as chris hoy, tiger woods and usain bolt proving his reputation for success.

band / music photography
music photography is a way of using images to portray a certain impression of a band or group. it can consist of of performance action shots of a gig or show or it can be set portraits of the artist/s.
Ross Halfin -Ross used to go and see bands - The Who, Man, ACDC, Led Zeppelin, Free - and would sneak a camera in and shoot black and white. He started sending his photos into the London music papers. They all started publishing my photos just as the punk scene happened. he preferred shooting bands like UFO, Ted Nugent and Rush, mainly because they had light shows. Ross worked a lot with Chysalis Records as one of their staff photographers.

portrait photography

portrait photography is the photography of a person or a group of people that displays the expression , personality and mood of the subject. the focus is usually on the subjects face but sometimes can include the persons body.
Cecil Beaton -Cecil Beaton was a portrait photographer working with people such as Marilyn Monroe creating some of the most iconic photographs of the 20th century.

macro photography
macro photography is the extreme close up highly detailed photography of usually very small objects ie. insects. the size of the subject in the photograph is greater than life size. The ratio of the subject size on the  sensor plane to the actual subject size is known as the reproduction ratio.  a macro lens is classically a lens capable of reproduction ratios greater than 1:1.
Robert Thompson- Robert was born in Northern Ireland where he lived for most of his early life. His interest in natural history began during his childhood. He is an accomplished natural history photographer, author, entomologist and acclaimed specialist in close-up & macro photography. His work is widely published in the UK, Ireland and internationally, with numerous photographic credits in a wide variety of book, magazines, calendars and various other media sources through his own library and agencies.

astro photography
Astro photography is taking pictures of extra terrestrial objects and the night sky. astrophotography has the ability to image objects invisible to the human eye such as dim stars, nebulae, and galaxies. This is done by long time exposure since both film and digital cameras can accumulate and sum light photons over these long periods of time.
Williama stevens fleming - williamina discovered the 'Horse head' Nebula in 1888 on photographic plate B2312 taken at the Harvard College Observatory; Discovery of white dwarf stars. she is one of the first famous astrophotographers of her time.
