final images before and after editing

with this photograph i wanted to capture the both sides of bmx which is a fast paced sport and a slow relaxed lifestyle. so to do this i had two bmxers ride past on fast and one slow and i used a slow shutter speed to make the fast one blurred. this created a better effect giving a larger difference between the two speeds. i also changed the image black and white and a warm filter to make it seem warmer.

 

with this i wanted to capture street art in a good light. so i took this picture the highlighted the street art in colour against the black and white surroundings to focus the viewers attention on the subject.

like the photo above i wanted the creativity of street art and tagging. i found this sign covered with stickers which showed the creativity of street culture. again i highlighted the stickers with colour and put the rest in black and white to make them stand out more.

with this i also wanted to capture the other areas of creativity from Sheffield's of the shelf festival. this is a poem from the festival on the side of a university building. to make the poem much more obvious that its the subject i blurred the parallel areas of the poem.

with this photograph i wanted to present a pioneer in engineering on a very tall and grand structure. so i chose to take a picture of the brealy wall art and another of one of the tallest buildings in sheffield then photoshoped the two together to make it seem as if brealy was painted on the side of the building. i then darkened the sky with a warm filter to show the gloom of the industrial revolution.

i also wanted to capture another icon but in another area which was charles darwin. i also tried to find a relevant structure to put him on like the brealy photograph. so i chose the science building of the university.

with this photograph i wanted to show that urban culture isn't always dark and filled with crime hence the black and white doors but can be bright and creative swell in how people live their lives explaining the graffiti in colour.

in this photograph i want a wide view of the creative sector. so i took this picture from the top of the cheese grater car park. i then edited it to highlight the main creative hub of the sector which is the showroom gallery and cinema.

when i captured this photograph i wanted to show the creativity of Sheffield's bmxers. so i used the street lights as a kind of spot light on the bmxer doing his trick. this draw the attention to him. i also cropped the picture and slightly turned up the contrast .

In this image i captured a sign which said welcome to sheffield. i saw this as a perfect image to introduce creative and digital sheffield. to make the sign draw attention to itself i blurred the surrounding areas and changed the signs text to create a more vivid appeal agains the black and white surroundings.
